Lemons Looks to Get Season Off to a Fast Start at Myrtle Beach

TROY, NC :: Tommy Lemons, Jr. had a great 2015 season picking up three wins on the season including a victory in the prestigious Martinsville race but in 2016 he’s looking to get off to a quick start with a victory as early as February 27th.

Lemons 2016 season will kick off on Saturday evening in the IceBreaker 200 at Myrtle Beach Speedway and coming off a second place finish in last fall’s UNOH Battle at the Beach he’s excited to get back to the beach.

“We had a great car here last fall,” said Lemons. “Finishing second was disappointing. We had a car to win and we think we’ll have a car to win this weekend. It’d be great to get the season started off with a victory.”

Lemons has a jam packed schedule of races this season but Myrtle Beach is a track he’s never won at but been in contention to win several times.

“We just haven’t been able to close the deal at Myrtle Beach,” continued Lemons. “We’ve been in contention at the end of the races several times but things just haven’t fallen our way. With the gritty surface on the track it races different than almost every other track we go to. It comes down to strategy more than speed and we’ve just not hit the perfect combination yet even though we were really close last year.”

Lemons will compete in this weekend’s IceBreaker 200 and then he’ll head to his unofficial home track at Caraway Speedway next Sunday, March 6th as he begins to chase his first championship at his home track.

Lemons is supported by Lemons Backhoe, Colonial LP Gas, Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, John West Racing Engines and Robinwood Enterprises. For more information on Tommy Lemons, Jr. or the Lemons Motorsports team, check out their website at www.tommylemonsjr.com.
